Leading the Pathfinders to Dacilane Manor in the Ivy District, Venture-Captain Drendle Dreng recounted that 7 years ago, an early group of Pathfinders have successfully rescued a girl, Junia Dacilane from the necropolis in the Drownyards. It is unusual because she have survived in the catacombs for the past 10 years with no food, but neither did she age. As thanks, her mother, Lady Dacilane agrees to underwrite all future expeditions into the Drownyards with the Society but for this particular year, she have an additional request.
Her request is for the party to escort Junia Dacilane to the Drownyards as lately, she felt a strong urging to visit the locale in which she was trapped for 10 years. Some members of the party recognised that she is suffering from survivor's guilt. A form of mental condition in which she blames herself as the only survivor when all others perished & she feels guilty for it. Perhaps, visiting the venue will do much to absolve herself from the guilt weighing upon her young shoulders.
On the way to Precipice Quarter, the group were beset by a few Chelish marines who wanted to pick a fight with Junia "J" Dacilane because she is "cos-playing as an Eagle Knight", with calls of her being a traitorous peasant and whatnot. However, Lubberkin, the priest of Zon-Kuthon quickly convinced the marines that the party is actually transiting to the nearest mental institution, which the spirit of Grishan Maldris quickly rejected & emerged from Junia's body.
Scaring off the marines, J have no choice but to explain that Grishan has been with her throughout all these years & only in recent months have Grishan deemed it necessary to reveal himself. It was also him who hid J's soul in the Ethereal Plane when confronted by the allip which fed on her consciousness.
And on Grishan's insistence, that was when J wants to go to the Drownyards, for, in the Arboretum, lies a collection of secret notes which might prove extremely damaging to various noble families in Absalom itself & he is to retrieve it, as a way of doing what he should have done when he was alive. J pleaded with the Pathfinders to help Grishan & herself & thus with 2 locations to explore, the Drownyards & the Arboretum, the adventure continues!
The Drownyards, a place where a particularly strong haunt, powered by the combined psyches of the past victims lingers... thus trapping the entire party when an earthqquake happens. Turns out being trapped in the room is part of the experience... when a more powerful & menacing presence drew J into the next room... That of her old friend, Cassiel Marlinchen.
Overwhelmed with guilt, Junia stood still as Cassiel rages on about why she must die & that Junia still live... She should have been the one who survived! And as the party stood up not doing anything, she attacked & from the floor, rose 2 creatures of pure ectoplasm, intent on adding more victims to the grounds of the Drownyards. Although she is strong, Cassiel proved to be no match for the Pathfinders & Junia sadly remarked that sometimes, violence is needed to resolve certain conflicts.
A quick trip to the Arboretum. A magical "greenhouse" of sorts before the earthquake, it was abandoned & its magics corrupted when the Pathfinders stepped in. Greeting them at the entrance is a mandragora called Majordomo Pip who promised them access to the rest of the venue if all they do is to offer some blood as admission fee. Not content to let needles prick them, Lubberkin initiated combat by casting a veil of darkness over the mandragora. Shrieking in horror, Majordomo Pip fought as hard as it could against the party & the tiny plant is a much harder opponent than Cassiel.
Wrapping up the fight, the group made its way to the red lion statue which contains the notes. Confronting them is the Master Gardener, a ghoran who managed to smuggle its way into Absalom from Quantium. Suspecting that the party are gardeners from Quantium, she was rightfully guarded, as there is practically no difference from the evil gardeners and the murderhobos from the Pathfinder Society.
Convinced that they made a mistake in slaughtering the poor Majordomo, the party tried hard to restrain themselves from letting loose at the ghoran as they know that she is affected in part by the corrupting rain released within the Arboretum itself. They promised not to inform the authorities, so that the ghoran seeds can grow & she can finally be set free by establishing a community of ghorans in Absalom & by seeking asylum in Absalom.
Exiting the place, the Pathfinders encountered Major Colson Maldris, brother of Grishan Maldris who request the party to pass the notes to him, after the party admitted to having the information on hand. Pleading with the party to hand it to him, despite incriminating evidence, he made a case that if enemies of Liberty's Edge is to get hold of it, Liberty's Edge can possibly cease to exist as there are factions within Andoran who are threatening it's democracy & who is still not found yet. Selling the information on the black market could indeed play a part in the faction's downfall if it comes to that.
Ten, the only member of Liberty's Edge in the party agreed to hand it over & with no resistance, Colson departed gratefully.
Junia Dacilane realizing that there is no future to be had following her mother requested the Pathfinders to sponsor her, and with strong support from Darian, Lubberkin & the rest, Junia Dacilane enrolled into the Pathfinder Society & to train her psychic skills, so that in time, she too might be able to be featured in future editions of the Pathfinder Chronicles.
