Rollplay II Fanart / Fanfiction Contest 2014

Submit either a Fanart / Fanfiction detailing your character's adventures in Golarion. All stories and artwork must be of exploits of YOUR OWN CHARACTER in a PFS sanctioned scenario. (For example, you cannot submit an artwork of another player's character in a scenario that you played in, unless permission has been given by the player. This is to prevent conflicts between players.)

Contest Period : 12 November 2014 to 5 December 2014, 23 59h GMT +8 Singapore time. 
Stories must be between 500-2000 words. Artwork should be at least A4 size.

Entry in the Contest: You can enter the contest by submitting one story OR artwork in this forum thread along with the following details : title, author/artist name, PFS number, character name and scenario name. Submissions of a overly violent/ pornographic / sexual nature will be disqualified. Judges cannot participate in this competition.

You are limited to one (1) entry in the contest.

Winner Selection : Winners will be selected based on voting from public from the 6-12 December. Judge's Choice award will be selected by our panel of judges. 

Prizes: One (1) winner from each category will win a copy of the Inner Sea World Guide AND a Pathfinder Novel, to be collected on Sunday of Rollplay II. One (1) entry will take home the Judge's Choice award and win a Customized Miniature of their character donated by the Singapore VOs. (Do note: Delivery of the customized miniature depends on release date of HeroForge, tentatively set at January 2015. Feast of Ravenmoor


Title: How I met your Mom


Prologue:

I have a smelly bag over my head and my body strapped onto a cold hard stone surface, possibly a sacrificial altar dedicated to an abyssal entity. What a fool I am for going after this beauty during the dark of night, in this backwater town of Ravenmoor.


Chapter One:

My mission was to investigate the disappearance of a tax collector from the great City of Monuments, Magnimar. Together with a few of my Pathfinder brethren, we journeyed on horseback to the southwest along the Lampblack River for two days and nights before arriving at Ravenmoor, a quaint and isolated little swampy town on the third morning.

We stabled our horses and made our first efforts to know Ravenmoor. My brethren spoke with a nearby mosquito farmer and headed towards the town's only tavern. As for me, I loved to have a bird's eye view on the area and proceeded to climb the nearest double storey abandoned building. After a few short minutes, I was on the roof and was able to mentally map out half of the town. At a distance on the other side of town, I noticed a crowd gathering in what seemed to be some sort of festival.

A quick leap of the roof onto a stack of hay, I double-timed over to my brethren at the tavern. We were able to learned that the barkeep nor anyone in the inn had seen a tax collector from Magnimar, that Ravenmoor was celebrating its Founders' Feast and more importantly, there were games to play and prizes to be won.


Chapter Two:

After a full day at the carnival, my brethren and I, have won a half a dozen of games, including hog wrestling, darts throwing and pie eating. The one prize that I valued the most of the three-legged race where I managed to pair up with the year's Founder's Feast pageant winner Shel Lupescu. Not only was she a real stunner but she was very dexterous, enough to match my own ability to win the race.

Sadly her parents came and took her away, saying something about the pageant winner needing to carry out her duties. Shel give me her handkerchief and a sweet smile that I can never forget. Am I truly worthy to court her? I am a beastspawn tiefling after all, a very handsome tiefling but still a being with fiendish blood. What could a human angel like her see in me? My thoughts were many and I drifted away.

My brethren suddenly remembered our mission to find the missing tax collector and we quickly made our way to speak with the Mayor. The Mayor was a joyful fellow and welcomed us warmly. After speaking with the Mayor over a filling dinner, we were disappointed to learn that the tax collector did indeed arrive one week earlier and collected the taxes in full. It seems that the tax collector has decided to not hand in the gold to Magnimar and it is now our mission to hunt down the rogue and retrieve the gold. We decided to leave Ravenmoor the next morning and the Mayor offered us free lodging for the night.


Chapter Three:

I woke up to a noise. There is it again. My brethren were still asleep as I looked out through the second storey window. Shel Luprescu! What was she doing alone out here at night?

"Anfernal....psst... I got to tell you something...I miss you.....meet me over by the barn."
Oh damn, she really loves me. I put on my pants, zipped up and went out the window silently after her.


Chapter Four:

I have a smelly bag over my head... oh wait, I already said this at the beginning. It is all quite fuzzy but I do recall entering the barn to find Shel standing in the middle with a lantern. I was ready to get all steamy with her when I noticed both her parents and a few more villagers appear from behind the walls and pillars, wielding pitchforks and sickles.

Dammit Shel, why did you betray me? I whipped out my pistols and blasted away at the nearest angry villager. Alas, I was overwhelmed and got my ass non-lethaled.


Chapter Five:

I stirred and listened in on their conversation. Something about a ritual and about some trouble they are expecting soon. Then there was a loud crackle of energy, a lightning bolt surely, and the ground shook. Battle had arrived.

The chains were no match for my sleight of hand skills and within a few seconds I escaped and removed the smelly bag. My brethren had arrived and were taking on the villagers who captured me. I spotted my gear not far from me, quickly dashed over to retrieve my pistols to join the fight, flanked the enemies from behind and ended the fight with the righteous flurry of thunderous bullets.

When the dust settled, my brethren and I stood over the mangled and bullet-ridden corpses of the evil villagers, including Shel's parents. We found Shel nearby shackled and interrogated her. Apparently the village was secretly worshiping an Abyssal deity and frequently sacrificed pageant winners, and Shel was to be next. The bastards. Shel begged for my forgiveness for being used to lure me out to the barn and I forgave her, also asking her forgiveness that her parents are now dead.


Chapter Six:

Only one loose end remains. We marched over to the Mayor's house and killed any who would got in our way. We kicked the doors down and with my ungodly high intimidation skills, the Mayor loosen his tongue and bowels to us. The tax collector did came to Ravenmoor and was killed after the Mayor refused to pay up, hoping to paint the false picture that the tax collector took the gold all for himself. I told Shel to stay outside with my good-aligned brethren before I executed the Mayor.

After helping ourselves the gold owed to Magnimar and a few other treasures for ourselves, we made our way back to the City of Monuments and reported in on our mission. The Society thanked us for learning the fate of the tax collector, collected the gold and purge Ravenmoor of the Abyssal cult.


Epilogue:

For Shel, I took her back to Cheliax where I trained her in firearms, who I would marry and one day be the co-leader of a new Hellknight Order but there is a story for another time.

My name is Grekk and I am a monk. My Body is my Weapon.I rain a flurry of blows on the enemy from many angles, deflect projectiles with my bare-hands. And as I grow in power, I will possess ki to do extraordinary feats with my body. My control over my breathing gives me insight into the motives of others. The venture-captain's breath comes hurried and turbulent as if an ocean being stirred and gradually transformed into white frothy madness. Deaths of the Dawnflower cultists, the debacle created by the Shadow Lodge as well as the storm of guards knocking on our door, moved him to hurry us and the cultists towards the underground exit.

The fearful guards screamed at the supernatural darkness, courtesy of the dark heritage of a half-demon, half-human eldritch knight. Our hastily gathered party quickly introduced our calling, I was a Aasimar with Garuda blood, a monk, from young I did tough chores and trained with my spiritual father in a place of endless sand. The others were an eldritch knight, a fighter, a divine hunter and a cavalier.

The magical darkness that the knight summoned with his blood, confounded the local militia and bought us time to escort the Dawnflower cultists through the underground tunnels. Gifted with sight that sees the dark as though it was day, we slayed a giant spider before arriving at the cultists safehouse.

We found a liar amongst the cultists in the safehouse, he could hide his true nature by changing his face. Such evil fears the divine gifts of a paladin, and it backstabbed the divine hunter before he could focus his sight. We slayed it, a woman cultist and his possessions gave us clues pointing us to our next destination.

Zounds! Will the obstacles never end? Standing before the rich-looking two-story Dalsine manor, stood two groups of guards quarrelling with each other. I was trained from youth to cut arrows in the air, acrobat my way around an opponent, but the art of silver-tongue eluded me.

Thankfully, the cavalier was trained in the art of the silvery tongue and quickly smoothed our way past the squabbling group and calmed the two groups of armed men before they came to blows.

Heaving a sigh of relief, I stood before what I believed to be the final destination. The faceless stalker failed in his attempt to keep us from this manor, but what was it we expected to find? Treachery! A keleshite assassin from the Society slayed a Taldan Baron! The assassin muttered some nonsense about a sister, and useless pathfinder pursuits after treasure before being whisked away by her magic.

A human noble dressed in rich livery, stood at the top of the manor lobby, laughing his strange laugh, my hairs stood sensing a danger I could not yet lay a finger on. Something seems off! The cavalier walked up the stairs to smite the strange man, while I looked in from the window. The air of brash confidence of the cavalier faded just as fast as the vanishing of the human noble! Trickery! It was a clever illusion! The cavalier's sword cleaved air!

The smell of lightning tickled my nostrils and our divine hunter was struck low by the cowardly knave! Fell electricity discharged into the paladin, as the human magus readied his rapier and gathered his concentration for another spell. Even with his veil of invisibility lifted, he proved a tricky foe. Enchanted Gravity arrows swooshed from the eldritch knight into the magus, a lucky shot, the enlarged arrows struck a mortal blow! The lightning magic of the magus hungered for the metal armors of my fellow warriors, any longer and another would have fallen.

Thus ends the Dalsine Affair.
