Greetings Pathfinders,
For those of you who are fresh out of the Academy at Grand Lodge where you are trained by the various Masters, allow me to remind you of the steps that you need to take to embark on your career as a member of the Pathfinder Society.
#1: Create an account at Paizo.com
#2: Click on the 'Pathfinder Society' tab on the top left hand corner and register to get a PFS number. Take note: This number is important as it is tagged to your account and all your experiences as a Pathfinder will be recorded in this number.
#3: Register a character and choose a faction! If you are unsure of what faction you like, feel free to choose Grand Lodge and if you want to change it before your character embark on his first scenario as a level 2 character, please inform myself as soon as possible!
#4: Download 'Guide to Pathfinder Organised Play' for free and read it up. It will give you a general idea of what to expect.
#5: Character generation proper. How do you do it? First, PFS uses the 20 points stat buy system as described in the Core Rulebook. Secondly, you have 150 starting gold and as PFS encourages teamwork and co-operation, you are not allowed to be evil. Period. Sorry, assassins! Also, to check if your character choices are legal, please refer to:
paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/about/additionalResources
The above website will indicate whether your character created is legal for PFS sanctioned play or not. It is an explicit list, so unfortunately, if it's not listed as legal, that means you can't choose it.
#6: Where do I start looking for a game? Please feel free to drop by here at Warhorn for a look at the schedule about what is going on here in Singapore! Please bookmark it as it will be updated often with the latest games available. If you find that the table is full, do not be worried, sign up for it and our GMs will ensure that you get a game.
Benefits:
Why Pathfinder Society when you can be gods or god-like beings in your own campaign world you say? Although PFS can't compare in terms of consistency to some, the benefits of PFS is many fold. For people with working commitments, it's ideal as you can jump into any game at any time with any GM as long as your character is within the level range of the scenario. You will also meet people with different backgrounds and different playstyles as we all come together in our quest for glory and fame! Many beautiful friendships are formed over the table, with comrades in arms, when you face Death together and tears are dropped when a beloved companion died due to vicious monster attacks, or when they died, so that you, their companions might live.
Restrictions:
The only restriction that you have, is that if you are using a resource besides the Core Rulebook, you will need to produce either the PDF version or the printed version of the book. This is to maintain the sanctity of the PF Society as well as to keep our hobby alive.
Can you form a group with your own friends and play?
Yes, you can! You can maintain a static group of players and GMs if you really want to!
Any questions? Feel free to drop the questions here and I will do my best to answer them.
