A student of the Imperial Academy for the Gifted, Lyrad Dredwing has to fight tooth and nail, like all other students, to get top grades in the highly competitive Academy. Lyrad is close to graduation to becoming an elite low-member of the Jade Council, one of the many law enforcers of the Empire. One day, he receives and invitation to participate in a tournament. The big prize of being an ambassador for the Empire is too good a chance to pass up. Such an appointment would automatically guarantee a graduation, to see the world, to serve the Empire and of course, be all powerful!
