SUMMARY
High atop the Fog Peaks in southern Galt, the bones of a mystic lie buried in an ancient cairn and the Pathfinder Society desperately needs them to contact the deceased, and charges the PCs with the bones’ recovery. Arriving at the cairn, the PCs soon discover it is sacred to a clan of mountain primitives called taer who worship a massive serpentine beast that dwells nearby. Defeating the monster enrages the taer and the beastmen vengefully attack in droves. Compounding matters, the Aspis Consortium secretly watches from the shadows, waiting to ambush the PCs and steal the bones for themselves.
The PCs travelled to the cairn, defeated its remorhaz guardian, recover the mystic’s bones and escaped the clutches of the vengeful taer, and finally, survived a neckbreaking sled race while fighting off agents of the Aspis Consortium. They successfully retrieved the bones, and they help the Society gain possession of ancient secrets known as the Four Truths.
Pathfinders:
Lv 7 Tiefling Inquisitor - Anferno
Lv 7 Human Rogue - Venino der Flinke
Lv 5 Aasimar Evangelist - Aeryl
Lv 7 Gnome Summoner - Tenzekil
Lv 5 Tiefling Wizard - Baiyun
Lv 7 Dwarf Archer - Gloin Greenleaf
Lv 7 Hungerseed Barbarian - Kairon Frost
Actions of Note:
Kairon Frost the Runner: Ran up the mountain known as "The Dragon" alongside the party's dog sleds.
Aeryl: Suggested to the party to lash two dogsleds together. Dogsleds are lashed together, but while navigating the Spine of the Dragon, she crashed the sled, thankfully, with no fatalities.
Aeryl the Buried: Was buried by an avalanche which the taer set up. Was quickly rescued by Tenzeki's fire elementals when they promptly melted through the snow to reach Aeryl.
"Dwarves are not meant to fly" Gloin: Activated his celestial armour's fly ability and wanted to fly, but due to his inexperience in flying, he failed to take off as he would like it to which was quite embarassing but in the heat of combat with an advanced remorhaz, embarassment is certainly the least of his worries.
Party: Engaged an advanced remorhaz which grabbed the dwarf in its fangs who managed to escape, but which promptly swallowed Kairon Frost after Baiyun greased the tiefling, making the tiefling easier to go down it's gullet. Baiyun managed to blind the remorhaz which helped the party somewhat and under the combined firepower of the seasoned adventurers, the remorhaz is no match for the group.
When the party was chased by Aspis Consortium members on sleds, Tenzekil and Baiyun summoned air elementals and commanded them to become whirlwinds in which the mushers were thrown out of the sleds leaving the sleds unmanned and which were quickly slaughtered by the savage Kairon.
Conclusion:
After repulsing the beastmen's attack, when the rogue Venino present evidence that Krysher is the traitor in their midst, Rysam orders Krysher arrested. Krysher surrenders willingly and mockingly remarks that once the Galt authorities have taken him into custody it’ll be a small matter of time and money to secure his freedom.
The Pathfinders save Rysam and the waystation, its inhabitants pledge themselves forever in their debt. They invite the Pathfinders to remain for a few days to recover and wait for Osprey to arrive. A few days after the attack by the taer tribesman, the Pathfinders find Osprey waiting for them, comfortably hanging out in front of the fire watching the logs spit and crackle in the dull orange glow. The Pathfinders present him with the bones, he thanks them for their services to the Society and tells them
they have indeed prevented a terrible fate by keeping the bones from the hands of those who would seek to steal the mystic’s prophetic truths. Then he graciously bids
them farewell and, without warning, transforms into a long-winged hawk with mysterious dark markings about its eyes. Winging into to the ice-blue sky he soars off
towards Absalom leaving the Pathfinders standing in the cold, with thousands of miles between where they stand and the City at the Center of the World.
