Hi Everyone!
As there has been talk of interest in a 2E game. I have taken it upon myself, with much encouragement from those who know what THAC0 is, to run one.
Please bear with me though. It has been a LOOONG time for me since I breathed 2E P&P. I have some basic material, a PHB, FR campaign setting. I THOUGHT I had a DM guide (I remember reading a book that showed my random encounter results, etc etc)but yeah it seems to have eluded me.
For those of us who want to reminisce, I will be running a small game, nothing as huge like what Rich and Herman are running, campaigns that last for a few months to years. Mine will be more for letting the old players relive the days again, and for newer players to come and experience how it was done in the day.
As I will be abit tight on time, since after my course I need to do some self study for some professional qualification exam that I need to take in July, I won't have time to go through the FR campaign setting material, rather I will make my own... hmm... setting, so to speak, for this game.
Don't worry, it will still be the same as making a character in FR, just that it won't have much FR flavour in terms of the geographical location, history, international relations, etc etc. Your characters will still be portable to whatever game comes next for them!
Interested parties please feel free to say hi here!
Also, I need info on monsters. Anyone know a source that I can refer to?
Thanks!!

Hey Chris, if you want, I can lend you my copy of Monster Manual, plus Planescape Compendiums if you want planar creatures. Also, what are the restrictions on classes and kits? Will we be using 2.5E rules, that is skills and powers? How about the player options like Combat & Tactics & High-level sourcebook? Kits are generally like archetypes, but they build on the character's basic class instead and require additional information to work. Also, how about stuff from Oriental Adventures? The original Oriental Adventures originate from Kara-Tur which is to the east of Faerun, which is where Yamun Khahan began his invasion of Faerun.

Ok folks, I am doing a final tally of the number of interested folk. To answer Richard's question for all of you. Everything that is AD&D goes. As I said before, my game is meant to: i) Allow "new" players to experience the magic of the good old days, before the dark times, before the Emp... oops I mean before WOTC. ii) Let "old" players relive the glory days! To achieve the above, the setting will be a small and simple hamlet, away from the rest of the world. This will allow players to act as they would, without having to worry about things like "Oh shit... the guy in the bar asked me who is the King of Cormyr. Do I know the answer?" Likewise, the setting of the game will allow your characters to be "ported" over the the next 2E game, if there ever will be, lol. Also, it will give new players a feel of how old school RPG's were played, when not alot of school-going children could afford that many FR sourcebooks so we had to use our own imagination. Like old school PC games, you WILL need to THINK to win the game. Yes, I am incorporating puzzled/hint driven plot lines. As for when the game will be held. Part of the reason why I'm asking for a final tally is so that I can discuss with the players involved to agree on a suitable timeslot for everyone to enjoy at our own pace and leisure Please indicate your interest by this Sunday 16th of June 2013 2359 hours. (11.59pm) Thanks all for reading!!

Hail and Well Met, Adventurers!
Thank you all for indicating your interest. The finalised party is as below:
Dick The One who Bestowed "Dick" on... Dick The Heavy Roller The Dual-wieldling Light Blaster Pistol Shooter
You should know who you all are, did I miss anyone out?
Anyway, the first order of the day is to roll your stats. As you all will probably need some time to get back into the knack of making a 2E character again, I shall not waste time by saying that our first session will be a character creation session.
Since I should be meeting all of you for PFS/Other homebrew anyway, we shall roll your stats face to face, then I will acknowledge your rolls, then you can fill in all the other details on your own time (saves, proficiencies, etc). Then we can start the game proper on our first session, the date and time of which can be discussed later on, once everyone has rolled their stats.
For those not familiar, there are a few methods to roll stats back in the day, and of course you can roll more than once, but no mix and matching between sets! I shall explain more when we meet face to face.
I hope the above suggestion is acceptable to all? Please feel free to make other suggestions, raise questions!

Good Morning Adventurers,
Just some housekeeping to get things in order before we start.
First, a player tally.
Richard Simone Herman Nicholas Daryl Roderick Stephen
Second, as the number of participants has almost doubled in a single day (even though this ad has been up since May), we will need to do some scheduling. So NOW, I need you to list down your RESTRICTIONS and DIFFICULTIES with respect to:
Availability - Eg, which days are you UNAVAILABLE? For weekends, if you can mention the time, it would be better. Eg, weekends up to 5pm not free - we can check with the others if they are ok for an evening game on weekends.
Location - Currently, based on player locations, GG seems to be the most "central". But that does not mean that we are not open to alternatives. If GG is inconvenient, feel free to suggest alternative places that we can consider, as a group.
As per my "leanings", any decision with a majority vote will tend to be more favourably explored - needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Please note that unlike "regular" games like PFS on Tuesdays or WWW on Sundays, if everyone feels that 1 game per week is too taxing on time, we can arrange for alternate weeks or even plan sessions individually. Please note however, that as far as possible, please try to make it for dates that you say you can make it. If we are arranging individual sessions, be aware that OTHERS will also re-arranging their schedules so that all can make it and come together, hence the onus is on YOU to keep to your commitment as best as you can, so as to be fair to the others.
To help with your above scheduling, as I have said, the game will not be a very long drawn out game. Approximately 6 sessions max depending on how things proceed. That being said, don't pay too much attention to the number, what is important that you all should have fun.
RP is encouraged and additional XP will be given for it. Don't worry about thinking if your RP standard is up to par with anybody's. It would not be fair for me to expect everyone to talk with a aristocratic accent or have innocent childlike eyes when trying to bluff your way out of something. If you contribute to the overall experience of the game for yourself, others and me (yes, when you put in effort it can be seen!), that will count as RP and you will be rewarded for enhancing the game experience!
That's all for now folks. Good night.

I think my options are tapped out at the mo Chris. Best option for me would be Sunday a.m. before Wanderers. Other than that it would be weekday nights, but I can't do 3 in a week so I'd have to drop PFS Tuesdays.
Edit: At a push I could probably do some post-Wanderers sessions on Sundays.
